Allegheny National Forest (http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/forests/allegheny/) An official site of the National Forest Service. This is an excellent site for persons planning outdoor recreation in the area. It includes information, reservation service and news about the Allegheny National Forest. It also identifies nearby Pennsylvania state game lands, forests, and parks; the Alleghany State Park in New York, nearby hiking trails and other attractions to outdoor enthusiasts. There are many links to other governmental and public organizations. Maps are available for downloading. |

Keystone Trails Association (http://www.kta-hike.org/) This state-wide organization describes itself as, “a federation of individuals and organizations dedicated to providing, preserving, protecting and promoting recreational hiking opportunities in Pennsylvania. We represent the interests and concerns of the Pennsylvania hiking community.” The Allegheny Outdoor Club is a member of this organization. The site includes a section on major hiking trails in the state that provides links to the trails’ web sites. |

North Country Trail Association(http://www.northcountrytrail.org/) Properly called the North Country National Scenic Trail, this trail stretches from the New York/Vermont border to Central North Dakota. When complete it will be approximately 4600 miles. There is now approximately 1800 miles of certified off-road trail. The Allegheny Outdoor Club is a member of the NCTA. The web site includes descriptions of trail segments. Maps, guides and other NCT-related items may be purchased at the site. |

Tuna Valley Trail Association ( http://www.tunavalleytrail.com/ ) The TVTA builds and maintains trails within the Tunungant Creek Watershed in and around Bradford, PA. The trails pass through urban, rural and forest areas. Plans are underway to connect the system to surrounding trails in Allegany State Park, NY, the Allegheny National Forest and Kinzua Bridge State Park, PA. The web site contains maps and other trail information. |

Kinzua Valley Trail Club (http://www.kinzuavalleytrailclub.org/) This club has built a trail along Kinzua Creek starting from the village of Westline. When the section of trail is completed it will go to Red Bridge on Route 321. The club plans to then extend the trail eastward to the Kinzua Viaduct. |
Chautauqua Co., NY Department of Parks ( http://www.co.chautauqua.ny.us/departments/dpf/parks/Pages/default.aspx ) Chautauqua County maintains three parks and four trails that are listed and described in this web site. Two hiking/skiing trails, the Westside Overland Trail (24 miles) and Eastside Overland Trail (19 miles) are noteworthy. The M. E. Cobb Waterway Trail designates 52 miles of Cassadaga and Conewango Creeks for canoeing and kayaking. There are links to maps of the three above mentioned trails. |

Chapman Dam State Park ( http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/state parks/parks/chapman.aspx ) Here is a great state park in the middle of what the AOC considers its personal playground. With woods, streams and a lake there is plenty to do. And if the 805 acres aren't enough, the park is surrounded by state game lands and the Allegheny National Forest. The web site gives the details. In winter there is even a winter conditions page - look for the link under Winter Activities. |
