Schedule for Winter 2012

Friday, January 13

Ski or hike the West Overland Trail. Meet at the Rowdy Rooster in Panama, NY at 10 a.m. Lunch at Ashville General afterwards (optional). Leader – Pat Spicer, 814-757-8331, 9 to 11 p.m.

Saturday, January 21

Ski or hike at Warren County Winterfest. The AOC will ski or hike (dependent upon trail conditions) on Saturday and will encourage others to join us. Greg Burkett has agreed to lead the event. Meet at the Warming Hut at Chapman State Park at 1:45 p.m. Organizer – Bill Massa, 814-723-2568. (This year Winterfest is a two day event, Friday and Saturday.)

Sunday, January 29

Ski Davey Hill Area near Pittsfield. Meet at Musante Street at 1:30 p.m. Leader - Dave Rulander, 814-723-4388.

Friday, February 3

Ski or hike Dunham Siding to Chapman Dam. This is a 5.5-mile ski or hike with a shuttle. Meet at Musante Street at 10 a.m. or at Dunham Siding at 11 a.m. Leader - Dennis Anderson, 716-483-2288.

Saturday, February 4

Eagle Watch Day. Wildlife viewing and bald eagle education at the Kinzua Dam Visitor Center. This takes place outside so dress warmly. Hot drinks and snacks provided. Bring binoculars if you have them. Leaders – Bill and Mary Massa, 814-723-2568. Anytime between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., but come early as you will want to go to the Snowflake Festival.
Ski or hike at Snowflake Festival 2012. Meet at the Bulletin Board in front of the Jamestown Audubon Center at 2 p.m. This is a 5 mile ski. After skiing and enjoying the festival meet at John and Debra Young’s house at 5 p.m. for supper. Bring a dish to pass. Leaders - John & Debra Young, 814-757-8158.

Sunday, February 5

Ski or hike the Economite Road/Farm Area. Meet at Musante Street at 1:30 p.m.     Leader – Greg Burkett, 814 723-4989.

Saturday, Feb. 11

Ski at Marilla Reservoir. This is the day of Tuna Valley Trail Association’s Marilla Winter Trek, an event that is quickly becoming a tradition at Bradford. John will lead a ski down Marilla Springs Trail or other route as determined by conditions and consensus. Other activities are available; snowshoes loaned free, ice skating, ice fishing, geocaching, free refreshments (hot dogs, hot drinks), warming fire. Meet at Marilla Reservoir at noon. Leader – John and Patricia Shinaberger, 814-368-6728.

Saturday, Feb. 18

Ski at Long Point State Park. Meet in the parking lot at the park marina at 1 p.m.      Leader – Tim Buerkle. I don’t have Tim’s phone number at this time but do not want to hold up getting the schedule out. I will send another email out when I get it.

Friday,  Feb. 24

Ski the Summit Area of Allegany State Park. Meet at the warming hut at 10 a.m.      Leader – Pat Spicer, 814-757-8331, 9 to 11.

Thursday, March 8

Night ski – Pat Spicer is looking into a moonlight ski. If all goes well a ski will be announced for this night. Check the AOC web site.

Sunday, March 11

Annual AOC Winter Cookout and X-C Ski. Meet at Hearts Content at 1:30 p.m. to ski.   Pot-luck and cookout dinner at 4:30 p.m. Leader - Dennis Anderson, 716-483-2288.

Sunday, March 25

Ski Brush Hollow. Meet at Howes True Value at 1:15 or at the trail head at 2:00.       Leader – Patricia Shinaberger, 814-368-6728.
