Monday, September 5, 2011 - Our trip started at the Ross House with consolidating the cars and suitcases. We stayed at the Comfort Inn in Pittsburgh where we left our cars for the two weeks we would be gone.
Tuesday, September 6 - Up at 5 a.m. to catch the hotel shuttle to the Airport for a 8:05 a.m. flight to Las Vegas. We arrived in Las Vegas at 9:45 a.m. and collected our luggage and rental cars. Immediately we were off to California. We stopped at the Golden Steak Buffet for lunch and a little money was placed in the slots. On our way to Lake Isabella we traveled on a winding narrow road where we encountered free-roaming cattle. So far the scenery has gone from scrub grass and scattered cactus to taller
yellow grass and more rocks.
A free-range steer.
About 6:30 p.m. we arrived in Kernsdale and got set up for the night. All night we could hear the Kern River rumbling.
